Digger Bucket & Quick-Hitch Sizes: 25mm vs 30mm Pins Explained
Buying a bucket or attachment for your mini digger means getting the pin size right. Order the wrong size and it simply won’t fit. Here is how pin sizes and quick-hitches work.
Why pin size matters
Attachments mount to the digger’s dipper arm on two pins. Compact machines commonly use 25mm pins, while slightly larger machines often use 30mm pins. The pin diameter, the centres (distance between pins) and the ear width all have to match your machine.
How to measure
- Pin diameter — measure the existing pins (typically 25mm or 30mm).
- Pin centres — the distance between the two mounting holes.
- Ear/dipper width — the gap the attachment bracket must straddle.
Quick-hitches
A quick-hitch lets you change buckets in seconds without knocking pins out. Mechanical and hydraulic types are available; whichever you choose, make sure it matches your machine’s pin size and always follow the safety-locking procedure to avoid dropped attachments.
